This whitetail buck has been hanging around my yard since he was a fawn.  He was born with a malformed left hind foot and he hobbles around the yard dining on golden willow branches and his favorite haralson apples.  I named him Ferdinand after the children's story Ferdinand the Bull.  Our miniature schnauzer Ernest seems to have recognized his handicap and they have developed some sort of friendship.  When Ferdinand is napping under the apple tree Ernest wanders over to him and they exchange a nose to nose greeting and then Ernest turns and wanders away and continues surveying his domain.

  1. Isn't it interesting how animals can recognize infirmaries in other animals and then just accept them. Too bad more humans aren't that way. I have been scrolling through your paintings on here. You do great work. Keep them coming!
