Remember When

Remember When

Remember when we were young
The joy we found each day
Skipping rocks in the summer sun
Or sliding down a stack of hay

Fragrances were stronger then
Sharp and acute they were
The perfume of a flowered glen
Or the essence of a mountain fir

Goldenrod by a country pond
Tansy growing by the stream
Of all these things we were fond
Life was a delightful dream

Someday in our golden years
We’ll take back what we had back then
We’ll find the happiness that disappeared
And we’ll smile when we remember when
